Design with Amethyst Opens the builder with this stone already picked.

Amethyst is quartz that took in trace iron and then, over a very long time, was exposed to natural radiation in the rock. The purple is the result of that accident – heat it and the colour shifts toward yellow, which is how most citrine on the market is made.

It is the stone people keep beside the bed. Historically it was carried to keep a clear head, and that reputation has survived more or less intact for two thousand years.

How to judge quality: look for even colour from top to bottom. Many pieces are pale at the base and deep at the tip; a bead strung from an evenly coloured piece matches its neighbours better.
