Design with Tiger Eye Opens the builder with this stone already picked.
Tiger eye is quartz that replaced a fibrous blue mineral called crocidolite, keeping the fibre structure. The iron in those fibres oxidised to gold, and the parallel fibres are what produce the moving band of light – chatoyancy – across the surface.
It is the stone for holding a line: the meeting where you have to say no, the decision everyone else wants you to revisit. Blue-gold material that has not fully oxidised is sold as hawk’s eye; red is ox eye.
How to judge quality: the band should be sharp and run cleanly across the bead. Muddy or broken banding reads dull once strung.
