Design with Citrine Opens the builder with this stone already picked.
Most citrine on the market today started life as amethyst and was baked to turn it yellow – that is not fraud, but it is worth knowing. Natural citrine is paler and more greenish-yellow; the deep orange material is almost always heat-treated.
It has been the shopkeeper’s stone for a long time: the one kept in a till or on a desk where money changes hands. People also pick it for walking into a room and being heard.
How to judge quality: even colour with no white zones. In heat-treated pieces the colour often concentrates in bands, which looks uneven once drilled.
